FACILITATION

Team building events, away days, planning sessions etc. can often be best facilitated by someone who is not closely connected with the charity and has an objective viewpoint. The facilitator ensures that everyone participates and contributes to the debate whilst taking notes for further discussion.   The facilitator will produce a summary based on the outcomes of the discussions. This can then be used to inform the drafting of a strategy or plan. The object of the exercise is to encourage the full participation of everyone involved so that each person can develop a clear sense of ownership of the finished article.
